Michael Dimartino

Coach Mike brings years of coaching experience and an unparalleled passion for basketball to The Lab. With a diverse background spanning multiple facets of the sport, he possesses the knowledge and expertise to help young athletes develop their skills and exceed their goals. As a former player, Coach Mike credits his own success – including achieving his lifelong dream of playing college basketball – to the invaluable guidance of trainers. Now, he’s dedicated to paying those experiences forward and inspiring the next generation of players to reach their potential.

Coaching and Professional Experience

Coach Mike spent four seasons as an assistant coach at North Haven High School, playing a key role in transforming the program from a single-win season in 2020-2021 to back-to-back state tournament appearances in 2023 and 2024. Specializing in the skill development of athletes at all levels, he has been integral to the program’s remarkable growth and success.

While still in college, Coach Mike honed his scouting and analytical skills with New England Recruiting Report (NERR), working under the mentorship of Adam Finklestein, 247 Sports Director of Scouting and CBS Sports College Basketball Analyst. During his tenure, he covered premier showcases and tournaments featuring future NCAA talent, conducted player interviews, and wrote in-depth articles for NERR.com on standout performers and key commitments across the New England grassroots scene.

His professional experience extends beyond coaching and scouting. Coach Mike interned with Vanguard Sports Group and Kreation Talent Agency in the summers of 2019 and 2020, gaining valuable insight into athlete representation at the professional level. At Vanguard, he worked with the basketball division representing NBA players such as Wendell Carter Jr. (Orlando Magic), Ky Bowman (Golden State Warriors), and Chris Silva (Miami Heat), with responsibilities that included scouting prospective clients for the 2020 NBA Draft. At Kreation, he collaborated with Kevin Tarca, a Quinnipiac Basketball alum, on client marketing initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Playing Career

Coach Mike played collegiately at Connecticut College (NCAA Division III, NESCAC) from 2016-2019, earning a BA in Government and Economics. Prior to college, he attended Hamden Hall Country Day School, where he served as a two-time team captain and All-League selection in 2015 and 2016. Under the leadership of legendary coach David Beckerman, he helped lead Hamden Hall to its first New England tournament appearance in four years.

Off the Court

Coach Mike currently resides in New Haven and works for Acorn Group, a real estate development company.
